CLIL IN DUBLIN.Day 12

Good Morning!

Today was the last day of the course, we have made the closing ceremony and have given us our diplomas.

Right now I have mixed feelings...

I am happy. Happy with how it went the course, everything I've learned has come by as the exhibition of our work, for the very special people I've met and how much we've helped each other.

And so I'm very sad, it has been an enriching experience at all levels and as always when something good ends, I feel that empty feeling...

Well, just wanted to say, in conclusion, it was an unforgettable experience

Hoy ha sido el último día del curso, hemos hecho el acto de clausura y nos han dado nuestros diplomas.

Ahora mismo tengo una mezcla de sensaciones un poco extraña...

Estoy contento. Contento por como ha ido el curso, por todo lo que he aprendido, por como ha salido la exposición de nuestro trabajo, por las personas tan especiales que he conocido y lo mucho que nos hemos ayudado unos a otros.

Y por eso mismo estoy triste, ha sido una experiencia enriquecedora a todos los niveles y como siempre cuando acaba algo bueno, siento esa sensación de vacío.

Solo decir para terminar: Ha sido una experiencia inolvidable.

Good Morning!

Today has been occupied by CLIL teamwork in our final task and the presentation of it.

In the afternoon we had a group activity in an authentic Irish pub where we learned to dance Irish songs (or at least we tried!)

Por la tarde tuvimos una actividad de grupo en un auténtico pub irlandés donde aprendimos a bailar canciones irlandesas (o al menos lo intentamos!)

Good Morning!

Today we had a very interesting about reading skills in the morning and assessment techniques afternoon class.

Later, we had a visit to see the Book of Kells, which is said to be the most beautiful book ever written and the truth is that it does not disappoint, it's amazing to be in front of that kind piece of art in such a spectacular library.

Hoy hemos tenido una clase muy interesante sobre destrezas de lectura por la mañana y de técnicas de evaluación por la tarde.

Más tarde, tuvimos la visita para ver el libro de kells, el que se dice que es el libro más bonito jamás escrito y la verdad es que no decepciona, es asombroso estar ante una pieza de arte así en una biblioteca tan espectacular.

Good Morning!

Today we visited the museum of writers, a great place carefully built, well preserved and with a cosy (for a museum) look.

In the afternoon we had a joint class with all CLIL teachers to share resources and ideas between us.

It has been very interesting to know the way that other teachers from different countries have to teach in their classes.

Hoy hemos visitado el museo de escritores, un sitio genial tanto por como esta cuidado como por el ambiente tan cálido (para ser un museo) que se respiraba dentro

Por la tarde hemos tenido una clase conjunta con todos los profesores de CLIL para compartir recursos e ideas entre nosotros.

Ha sido muy interesante ver la forma que tienen otros profesores de distintos países de plantear sus clases.

Today we have been all morning working on our final task, divided into groups and with the support of our teacher.

In the afternoon we have had a practical lesson about books and how to adapt them to the needs of the students.

Museum Day!

Today we focused on the visit to the museum, doing a little introduction to what we would find in the morning and defining the activity after eating.

The museum is free and open to anyone who wants to take a trip in time through the ancient Celtic traditions of Ireland.

My group was particularly interested in the Viking invasions and we based our activity on it.

Día de museo!

Hoy hemos centrado el día en la visita al museo, haciendo un poco de introducción de lo que íbamos a encontrar por la mañana y definiendo la actividad después de comer.

El museo es gratuito y está abierto a cualquiera que quiera hacer un viaje en el tiempo por las antiguas costumbres celtas de Irlanda.

Mi grupo se interesó especialmente por las invasiones vikingas y basamos nuestra actividad en ello.

CLIL IN DUBLIN.Day 4

Good Morning!

Today we had a busy morning, advancing learning in CLIL. Full of examples and practical exercises, talking to my colleagues, have made us feel a little elementary students again, so we could say it was a very productive morning

In the evening comes the highlight of the day. The international dinner, where everyone had to bring something typical of our country to, together, create a varied dinner as possible. It was a success, noticed two things:

Sugar turkey delights completely conquered me

The Spanish table was soooo full that not even a pin could fill on it.

Hoy hemos tenido una mañana ocupada, avanzando en el aprendizaje de la metodología CLIL. Llena de ejemplos y ejercicios prácticos que, hablando con mis compañeros, nos han hecho sentir un poco alumnos de primaria de nuevo, así que se puede decir que ha sido una mañana muy productiva

Por la tarde llega el plato fuerte del día. La cena internacional, donde cada uno teníamos que traer algo típico de nuestro país para, entre todos, crear una cena lo más variada posible. Fue un éxito, cabe destacar dos cosas:

-    las delicias turras de azúcar me conquistaron por completo

-    La mesa española estaba a rebosar, no cabía ni un alfiler más.

CLIL IN DUBLIN. Day 3

Good Morning!

Today I managed to get up a little earlier (7:30) and run a little on the campus, they have an incredible rugby pitch in perfect condition. It is very rewarding to see how well they care their facilities

Shower, breakfast and ready for the day.

Today it's a very interesting topic: scaffolding and its theoretical basis in CLIL. Like yesterday, the theoretical course load has been very big, but given in an active and enjoyable way.

After class, I've met some companions to go to the science museum and get ideas for the final work , and later, at 20:00 to meet the most touristy Dublin.

Hoy he conseguido levantarme un poco antes (07:30) y correr un poco por el campus, que tienen un increíble campo de rugby en perfecto estado. Es muy reconfortante ver lo bien cuidado que tienen las instalaciones

Ducha, desayuno y listo para el día de hoy.

Hoy toca un tema muy interesante: andamiaje y su base teórica en CLIL. Igual que ayer, la carga teórica del curso ha sido grande, pero dada de una forma activa y amena.

Después de clase, nos hemos juntado algunos compañeros para ir al museo de ciencia del campus y coger ideas para el trabajo final y más tarde, a las 20:00 para conocer el Dublín más turístico.

CLIL IN DUBLIN. Day 2

Good morning!

Today they have divided us in the working groups for the next two weeks, in my group we are 18 people (of which only 5 are Spanish) so although we are many on the campus, in my group we are a minority, which is an advantage to don't miss the point and communicate in our language, so  less spanish people = more english hehe.

We had a day full of theory and concepts based on CLIL. All teached by our tutor (very dynamic and fun).

At 15:30 we finished, leaving the afternoon to get to know the city of Dublin.

Hoy nos han dividido en los grupos de trabajo para las siguientes dos semanas, en mi grupo somos 18 personas (de las cuales solo 5 somos españoles) así que aunque somos muchos por el campus, en mi grupo somos minoría, lo cual es una ventaja para no caer en comunicarnos en nuestro idioma, menos españoles = mas inglés jeje.

Hemos tenido un día cargado de teoría y nuevos conceptos sobre la base de CLIL. Todo ello expuesto por nuestra tutora de una forma bastante dinámica y divertida.

A las 15:30 hemos terminado, dejando la tarde para empezar a conocer la ciudad de Dublín.

CLIL IN DUBLIN. Day 1

Hello everybody!

Let's begin the adventure! I arrived yesterday at Dublin airport and right now, the temperature is awesome (about 13 degrees) so I'm just happy.

Today we started with a welcome speech and everybody was there, not just people from CLIL (the course I'm doing). It was amazing, people from 14 countries of Europe together talking about teaching and education.

In the afternoon, after the lunch time, we assisted a speech about "the Easter rise,1916" (Ireland revolution) finishing the day with a quick tour around the centre of Dublin.

Time to sleep.

¡Hola a todos!

Empezamos la aventura! Llegué ayer al aeropuerto de Dublín y en este momento, la temperatura es genial (13 grados aprox) así que estoy muy feliz.

Hemos empezado con un discurso de bienvenida y todo el mundo estaba allí, no sólo la gente de AICLE (el curso que estoy haciendo). Fue increíble, personas de 14 países de Europa juntos hablando sobre la enseñanza y la educación.

Después de comer, asistimos a un discurso sobre "the easter rise, 1916" (revolución irlandesa) para terminar el día con un rápido recorrido por el centro de Dublín.

Hora de dormir.

The main goal of the course is to create as many communicative situations as possible so that participants can:

1.Improve their communication skills in English and develop language for their classroom while implementing a CLIL approach.

2.Explore the potential of an inquiry-based project-work approach to CLIL through practical ideas for classroom management, lesson planning and materials development.

3.Exchange ideas and teaching materials with teachers from schools in a number of European countries; 4.Find a meeting point for future participation in European school partnerships and projects.

Teachers will enjoy a practical combination of workshops, project work, excursions and social activities in a collaborative learning environment in Ireland.
