FIRST STOP: COPENHAGEN

Taking advantage of the fact that to get to Lund it is necessary to fly to Copenhagen first, during the weekend I had the chance  to visit the Danish capital, strolling through its streets, eating something in the New Harbour with its colorful houses, enjoiyng the Tivoli, going up the Astronomical Tower , visiting the cathedral ... sunny and quiet weekend, loading piles for shadowing job week.

Aprovechando que para llegar a Lund es necesario volar hasta Copenhagen, el fin de semana aproveché para conocer la capital danesa, pasear por sus calles, comer algo en el Puerto Nuevo, con sus casas de colores, acercarme al Tivoli, subir a la Torre Astronómica, visitar la catedral... fin de semana soleado y tranquilo, cargando pilas para la semana de job shadowing.

JOB SHADOWING IN LUND. SWEDEN

Job Shadowing es un proyecto de observación directa, que forma parte del programa ERASMUs+. Del 18 al 22 de septiembre, una profesora del centro visitará el Centro de Lenguas Maternas de Lund, en Suecia, para  poder aprender, comparar y compartir la experiencia de este centro, de cara a fortalecer nuestro proyecto bilingüe y seguir investigando sobre el papel que juega la lengua materna a la hora de aprender un segundo idioma. Además, la experiencia servirá para conocer varias escuelas de la zona. 

Job Shadowing is a direct observation project, and is part of the ERASMUS+ Program. From the 18th to 22nd of September, a teacher from our school will visit the Center for Mother Languages in Lund (Sweden), ir order to learn, compare and share the experience of this center. This project will allow us to strengthen our bilingual project and to search further about what is the role of the mother tongue when children learn a second language. Furthermore, we will visit some school of the town.

Dear teachers,

I have just taken the exam. It has been a little bit tricky. I did my best so I am so proud of me 😊 

Acabo de hacer el examen. Ha sido difícil! Pero lo he hecho lo mejor que he sabido y estoy orgullosa de mi 😊 

Last day. What a pity… in fact, I can't believe it. It seems to me like I was arriving yesterday. However it has been two weeks and now it is time to come back home 🏡. This year is going to be challenging for me and it makes me feel a little bit afraid, but I trust everything is going to be alright. 

This experience has been simply amazing. You will never really know how thankful I am. As I ask myself everyday, “Have I mentioned today how lucky and grateful I am to be living this experience?”. Learning and teaching is much more than people believe. Both are arts. Both are ways to live. Both are live philosophies which I have chosen, and I will never regret it. 

Último día…qué pena! En verdad parece mentira pues parece que fue ayer cuando llegué. Pero dos semanas han pasado y es hora de volver a casa. Este año está lleno de retos para mí. Pero los afrontó con ilusión y sé que todo va a ir perfectamente. 

Esta experiencia ha sido maravillosa. Nunca sabréis los agradecida que estoy. Como todos los días digo, ¿He mencionado hoy qué afortunada de estar viviendo esta experiencia?. Aprender y enseñar es mucho más de lo que la gente cree. Son artes. Son maneras de vivir. Son una filosofía de vida que yo escogí y de la que nunca me arrepentiré. 

First of all, I would like to mention the teachers who have been sharing their days with me: Mery, María Rosa, Francesca, Gianlucca, Iveta, Monika, Annibal… and or course my dear teacher Danny. They are all great. I hope to see them soon 😊 

Me encantaría mencionar a los profesores que han estado compartiendo los días conmigo: Mery, Francesca, Gianlucca…y por supuesto mi querido profesor Danny. Ha sido todos geniales. Espero volver a verlos pronto. 

In addition, I would like to say thank you to the person who gave me the opportunity of traveling to Newcastle. Thank you Amaya for taking me into consideration as an Erasmus candidate and taking care of me everyday while I have been here ❤️ 

Además, me encantaría dar las gracias a la persona que me ha dado la oportunidad de viajar a Newcastle. Gracias Amaya por darme esta oportunidad y estar pendiente de mi todos los días.

Finally, thank you Jaby school for everything you are making me able to live.

30/31th August CLIL IN NC

Dear teachers, 

How are you doing? How was the first school day? Hoping you are doing well. I am sorry I have been disappeared due to today I took my exam so I have been concentrated on it (just the way I am). 

¿Qué al estais? ¿Cómo fue el primer día de colegio? Espero que todo bien. Siento haber estado desaparecida estos días, pero hoy tenía el examen y he estado muy concentrada en él (así soy yo...)

These days, lessons have been focus on consolidating learning, differentiation and assessment. Danniel (our teacher) asked us something that really made me think about: “Why we speak while teaching?” At first time, I could seem a non sensitive question, but it is not indeed. We are always speaking in class however, CLIL is not looking for teachers to speak but for students. What I mean is we have to change our minds. In the Era we live, we are not supposed to be the ones who are speaking the whole lesson. We are supposed to be the ones who encourage them to participate, to contribute, to communicate, to take part on… those things which are essential for a full development. 

Estos días las clases han ido acerca de cómo consolidar los aprendizajes, cómo hacerlos posibles para todos los alumnos y cómo evaluar teniendo en cuenta esas adaptacIones. En una de estas sesiones, el profesor Daniel nos hizo una pregunta que me hizo reflexionar; ¿Por qué hablamos los profesores en clase? La respuesta puede parecer muy obvia pero no lo es tanto. Gracias a ella me he dado cuenta de que tengo que rebajar mis intervenciones en clase. En la era que nos ha tocado vivir, no soy la que tiene que dar grandes discursos si no que son ellos los que deben hablar, participar, reflexionar... manteniéndose activos y así poder desarrollarse en todos los sentidos. 

Before finishing, I would like to say the 30th September was Maria Rosa’s Birthday 🎉 🎈. In order to celebrate it, they cooked what they call “la vera pasta italiana”. It has been really nice to share my days with them. They are all so different but good professionals at the same time. 

Antes de acabar, me gustaría resaltar que el día 30 de septiembre fue el cumple de María Rosa, una de las profesoras. Para celebrarlo, ellas cocinaron lo que llaman la verdadera pasta italiana. Ha sido genial compartir mis días con ellos. Son todos muy diferentes pero muy buenos profesionales todos.

Dear teachers 👨‍🏫 👩‍🏫 , 

How are you doing? Hoping you are doing well. Are you ready to restart classes? :) 

Today’s lesson has been about scaffolding in learning. We have been told about differences between students and how exactly taking it into account so as to do it properly. We haven't done many activities today as we were supposed to learn some contents before. In fact, we need them for Friday’s text. 

Throughout the evening, I went running with the runners 🏃‍♀️ club and then I have been learning Science vocabulary. To be honest, I was so tired so I took advantage of it so as to get a big range of scientist 👩‍🔬 words.

¿Qué tal estáis? Espero que estéis bien. ¿Estáis  preparados para volver al cole? :)

Las clases hoy han ido sobre cómo estructurar el aprendizaje en los niños teniendo en cuenta las necesidades de cada uno. Hemos aprendido algunas estrategias a través de la metodología CLIL para conseguir hacerlo bien. Hoy no hemos hecho muchas actividades porque ha sido muy teórico pero necesario ya que necesitamos la teoría para el examen del viernes. 

Durante la tarde he ido a correr con el grupo de runners y luego he aprovechado para aprender y leer cosas de Science y ampliar mi vocabulario.

28th DURHAM

Dear readers, 

Today it has been bank holidays in UK 🇬🇧, so we have not had classes. In order to take advantage of it, I went with the Italians to Durham. It is a small but awesome city. In addition, even if it is really weird in this region, sun ☀️ has been sinning the whole day. Streets were plenty of music and food 🥘 shops. We ate cod fish 🐟 (which is so close to fish and chips but healthier) 

We visited the Cathedral where some Harry Potter’s scenes has been recorded. It has been incredible as I am a big fan of it. 

Then, we went to Tynemouth. Tynemouth is a small beach village. People were taking a bath but in fact it was not warm enough for us. They were not brave enough to do it. It has been a really lovely day ❤️.

Queridos lectores, 

Hoy ha sido festivo en UK así que no hemos tenido clases. Para aprovechar el día, hemos ido a Durham. Es una ciudad pequeña pero maravillosa. Además, aunque es muy raro que pase, el sol ha estado presente todo el día. Las calles estaban llenas de música y puestos de comida de muchos tipos. Hemos comido cod and chips que es lo mismo que fish and chips pero se supone que más sano… no sé yo!

Hemos visitado la catedral de Durham. Me ha encantado porque muchas escenas de Harry Potter se han grabado ahí y como ya sabéis soy muy muy fan. Cuando acabamos, fuimos a Tynemouth. Es un pueblo pequeño de costa. Había gente bañándose pero nosotros no hemos sido lo suficientemente valientes. Ha sido un día genial.
